Tom Ståle Engebretsen This one got some really magic. I have played it over and over again. Best thing to do? Play it even more. Highly recommended.

Richard Gürtler I feel the first six songs could be longer, however "Romer Shoal" is undoubtedly a truly brilliant recording by riverrun, offering to each devoted aficionado of intensely engulfing textural drone ambient introspections 46 minutes of drifting poignancy at its most ambrosial!!! A true masterwork by incredibly crafted artist, bravo, Daniel Land!!!

George Fox I listened to this music alone on the shore of a still lake on a foggy morning before a rainfall. It was magical. Favorite track: Romer Shoal.

about

The fourth album of atmospheric landscape music from riverrun is the counterpoint to Daniel Land's new album of songs, "In Love WIth A Ghost", and for a while, Daniel considered releasing the two albums together as one double album. Like "In Love With A Ghost", it was heavily inspired by the time Land and his partner spent in New York in 2014 and 2015, in this case, a nostalgic exploration of New York harbour and surrounding areas. For fans of Brian Eno, particularly his "On Land" period.

Daniel Land's riverrun project is a series of heavily-composted landscape recordings, that he has been working on for nearly two decades in parallel to his songs. The name riverrun comes from the first sentence of James Joyce's novel 'Finnegan's Wake', and the music is as dark and mysterious as that novel - taking its cue from musique concrète, or Brian Eno's 'On Land', riverrun's music painstakingly-layers field recordings and reprocessed studio tracks into a deeply nostalgic exploration of geography and memory. The music of riverrun has been praised by Headphone Commute, Drowned In Sound, Losing Today, High Voltage, and is worth checking out for any fans of deep, dark ambient music - or indeed, as the graphic novelist Warren Ellis put it, anyone looking for "Something foggily comforting for the forebrain".
